Picture of the month

8 November 2011 - "A" breeding group ewes waiting in line at the Cornell Sheep Farm. The Cornell Dorset flock is divided into A, B, and C breeding groups. Rams out of C ewes (llike the one above) breed ewes in group A, A rams breed B ewes, and B rams breed C ewes. This minimizes inbreeding.

Ewe & newborn lamb
In the STAR accelerated lambing system, while some ewes are breeding, others are lambing. This newborn lamb is from a ewe that did not get sorted 3 weeks ago by udder palpation for barn lambing.
